5-Ingredient Ground Turkey Tacos
Budget-friendly, lean ground turkey tacos with minimal ingredients and maximum flavor. A quick, healthy weeknight dinner that's naturally lower in fat than beef tacos.
Prep: 5 min
Cook: 10 min
Servings: 4
Ingredients
- 1.5 lb ground turkey
- 2 tbsp taco seasoning packet or homemade
- 0.5 cup water
- 8 pieces taco shells or flour tortillas
- 1 cup shredded cheese
- 1 cup salsa or pico de gallo
- 0.25 cup fresh cilantro
- 2 pieces lime wedges
Instructions
- Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add ground turkey, breaking it apart with a spoon, and cook for 8-10 minutes until fully cooked through and no pink remains. Drain any excess fat if needed.
- Add taco seasoning and water to the cooked turkey. Stir well to combine and let simmer for 2-3 minutes until the liquid reduces and the seasoning coats the meat evenly.
- Warm tortillas or taco shells according to package directions (usually a skillet for 30 seconds per side for tortillas, or warm shells directly).
- Fill each taco shell with the seasoned ground turkey. Top generously with shredded cheese, salsa, and fresh cilantro.
- Serve immediately with lime wedges on the side for squeezing. Set out additional toppings like sour cream, diced onion, jalapeños, or hot sauce for customization.
- These tacos are best eaten immediately while the shells are warm and the fillings are hot. Leftovers can be refrigerated and reheated the next day.
